Tourist Information about Calahonda, Miraflores family resort and Riviera del SOl on the Costa del Sol in Spain

Within the family resort of Calahonda there are a substantial number of private villas with their own swimming pools for you to choose from. Only 20 minutes easy drive from Malaga International Airport and a few kilometres from Marbella lies Calahonda. On the southern most coast of Spain in Andalucia province you will love the all year round sunshine.

There are a number of horse riding stables in the vicinity and trekking is becoming a very popular activity on the Costa del Sol - most are run by British and German owners to a very high standard where safety is of primary importance.

Close neighbour to Calahonda is the fishing pueblo of La Cala de Mijas.

This is a delightful village with nice sandy beaches and good shopping. La Cala also has a good selection of restaurants - something for everyone - and some excellent chiringuitos (beach bars). Tourist information from www.CalaDeMijas.com

Whilst staying in Calahonda a car is preferable but not essential.

A small train passes around the streets of Calahonda regularly and will take you to the shops or restaurants if necessary.

Taxis are also easy to obtain although most places are within walking distance of the attractions such as the tennis club or the La Siesta Golf Club - both of these have good restaurants and bar.

Shopping in Calahonda is easy with a good supply of supermarkets and a couple of well presented shopping precincts. These precincts are also host to a selection of fun restaurants and bars.

Just a few kilometers along the road is Puerto Cabopino, probably the most secluded and picturesque port on the Costa and a popular venue for tourists who want to enjoy a good meal before taking a walk along its sandy beaches. Some of the Coast`s most popular restaurants, such as Albert's and Giuseppes Pizzeria, are located here.

A few kilometers more and you hit the world famous resorts of Marbella and Puerto Banus - the millionaires playground. There are fabulous restaurants and incredible shops her but be sure to remember your credit card, it can be pricey.

Children love the area and in particular the various splash parks, Tivoli world and of course the glorious sandy beaches. For the "older kids" check out the Casinos in Banus and Torrequebrada or try a day at the races in La Cala at the "Hipodromo del Costa del Sol".

Calahonda is a self sufficient community which provides an excellent base for the North European holidaymaker wanting a sun and sea holiday in surroundings which seem familiar.
